Q and A

Q: How long will this process take?

A: There is no set time on how long this will take. Getting to a vote depends on how long it to come forward and make it known to our committee that you are for unionizing. We have to take everything step by step and not rush it or we will fail. Right now we are working our way to getting cards out, but we must grow our volunteer organizingh commitee; so we will be succesful in getting an accurate count of the supporters.

Q: Will we go on strike if a contract will not be agreed upon or the the company refuses to negotiate?

A: Going on strike is the absolute last think that will happen.

Q: how will a union affect my job?

A: Unionizing will affect your job in a positive way. Working conditions will improve, job security will be increased and supervisers will no longer be able to treat you the way they want. We will be able to address a lot of the common issues and complaints that will make it a less desirable workplace.

What happens after the union comes in?

A: The union doesn't "come in" WE are the union. We will have outside help as needed, but our union is ran 100% by the shop. There will be an election held on who will be on the board.

Q: How much are union dues?

A: Union dues are equal to 2.5 hours a month. Example: if you make $20 an hour your monthley dues will be $50 a month. Union dues do not start coming out until 30 days after contract is negotiated and finalized.

Q: When will cards be passed out?

A: Cards will be passed out when we have a clear majority vote yes for unionizing. But in order to have an accurate count and have enough coverige so every person gets a card we NEED to grow our voluteer organizing committee. If you are someone who want the cards soon, please consider joining oar VOC.
